D-Laser Technology

D-laser is a new technology that more than ever before allows Descente to be creative in its ski wear production. The use of this laser cutting and welding technology has made possible far more finely detailed design and workmanship than was ever attainable before with traditional cutting and sewing techniques. This is particularly evident in new features like three dimensional breath ventilation panels.

In addition to the design opportunities brought about by these technical advances, they have also delivered significant benefits in terms of comfort and wearability through weight reduction. Even with relatively new garment technology, where a seam sealing tape is used to keep moisture from penetrating needle holes in the stitching, this extra material creates two and three layered seams that are both heavy and stiff and detract from wearing comfort levels.

The welding technology Descente employs, however, eliminates these layers and produces a pleasing, streamlined finish. D-laser welded seams, pockets and zipper housings all contribute to a degree of lightness and suppleness not possible before, making garments far more comfortable to wear.

The precision of the technology and the perfection of the finishes show the stamp of true craftsmen, working to levels of quality control rarely found elsewhere. These are what make Descente a world-ranked company, dedicated to turning out each and every garment to the most exacting standards of fit and feeling and construction quality.
